About the store

Experience

I’ve spent nine years teaching students from first grade through twelfth grade in Social Studies and ELA. I’ve also led small-group after-school instruction in theater, volleyball, chess, art, and STEM. Beyond the K–12 classroom, I’ve facilitated training and professional development sessions for adults, customizing each workshop to accommodate diverse learning needs.

Teaching style

I champion a project-based, student-led approach that ignites genuine enthusiasm for learning. By emphasizing the “productive struggle,” I nurture students’ proactive critical thinking skills and help them become leaders in the classroom. My teaching incorporates differentiated instruction and thoughtful scaffolding, ensuring every learner has the support they need while remaining sufficiently challenged.

Awards & shining teacher moments

As an educator and lifelong learner, I’ve created programs, workshops, and activities for nonprofits serving vulnerable populations, always applying a trauma-informed lens. I’ve also presented professional development on cultural competency, secondary traumatic stress, and social issues, reflecting my commitment to fostering growth and resilience in a wide range of learners.

My own education history

I hold a BA in Family Science & Human Development and Political Science (with a minor in Public Administration), along with an MA in Child Advocacy & Policy focused on Public Child Welfare. I’ve further expanded my skill set through an apprenticeship pastry program and by earning a WSET Level 2 Award in Wines. These diverse experiences shape my creative, real-world approach to curriculum design and instruction.
