Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to serve in leadership roles and be recognized for both teaching and instructional design excellence.
During my time as a classroom teacher, I was promoted to Mathematics Department Chair and led the adoption of a new K–9 math curriculum grounded in best practices. I also coached students in MATHCOUNTS for four consecutive years, with our team placing 4th out of 75 South Carolina private and homeschool teams. Supporting students as they built confidence and persistence through competitive problem solving remains one of my proudest teaching experiences.
As an instructional designer in higher education, my work has been recognized through multiple awards and nominations, including University-wide Staff Member of the Year nominations, Team of the Year, Outstanding Team Member of the Year, and an Above and Beyond Award. I’ve also been selected for national leadership and professional development opportunities focused on innovation, accessibility, and learning design.
Across roles, my most meaningful “shining moments” come from helping learners and educators move through challenge with clarity, confidence, and purpose—an approach that directly informs every Solve4y resource.
