About the store
I'm a UK-based mathematics graduate and software engineer. I started building Solvemoji in 2017 in my spare time. I wanted to replace the abstract symbols of algebra (x, y) with emojis (🍎, 🦊) so kids could see what they were solving for. The first few puzzles went on social media. Teachers started asking for more, so I built a full math platform. Classrooms in the UK, US, Canada, New Zealand, and all over the world use it now. The resources on this store are the printable companion to that platform. Teachers use them as worksheets, math centers, homework, and sub plans.

Experience

I'm a UK-based mathematics graduate and software engineer. I started building Solvemoji in 2017 in my spare time. I wanted to replace the abstract symbols of algebra (x, y) with emojis (🍎, 🦊) so kids could see what they were solving for. The first few puzzles went on social media. Teachers started asking for more, so I built a full math platform. Classrooms in the UK, US, Canada, New Zealand, and all over the world use it now. The resources on this store are the printable companion to that platform. Teachers use them as worksheets, math centers, homework, and sub plans.

Teaching style

Solvemoji lowers the barrier to math: • Visual unknowns. Emojis replace x and y. Algebra becomes approachable from age 5+. • Differentiated by level. Each pack covers a clear difficulty band so students find their level and progress. • Answer keys included. Every worksheet includes full solutions for self-marking or teacher review. • Curriculum-aligned. Content maps to US Common Core Operations & Algebraic Thinking (K.OA through 5.OA) and Expressions & Equations (6.EE). • Built for reluctant learners. The emoji format engages students who refuse to open a textbook. The same puzzles run interactively at solvemoji.com, with progress tracking and classroom features.

Awards & shining teacher moments

What teachers say: "Solvemoji is one of those tools I always come back to using in my classroom. Simple to use, easy to understand, but differentiated for all of my learners." Mrs Priestley, Auckland, New Zealand "I'm so glad I discovered Solvemoji. It is a platform that my students ACTUALLY ask to do during free time. The many options for skill level and skill focus really make it easy to customize what I want each of my students working on." Mrs Rand, Calgary, Alberta "The engagement was instant. Learners collaborate, debate strategies, explain their thinking and cheer each other on through challenges. I've loved watching even reluctant mathematicians take risks." Ibu Amber, Jogjakarta Community School, Indonesia
