In this lesson, students will apply their measurement and fraction skills in a real-world cooking scenario. Given a recipe and a list of available pantry items, students will determine whether they have enough of each ingredient to complete the recipe (yes/no). This is an introductory unit to multiplication and division functional math skills. Day one of multiplication includes three scaffolded levels for your students! Included is a multiplication facts jeopardy game. After learning their math facts, your students will be able to apply what they know to help solve real-world multiplication & division word problems. All documents can be easily adjusted to fit the needs of your students!

Real-life word problems unit for functional math skills. This unit covers addition and subtraction, with an introduction to multiplication. A bonus assignment is included that also does a brief introduction to real-life division word problems. This assignment can easily be adjusted to fit the needs of your students!

This includes a full budgeting project (modified level). A Thanksgiving budgeting class project is included. Requires students to use the dollar up method, and plan for a holiday meal while keeping a budget in mind. Can easily be edited to fit any holiday/ upcoming event.

Halloween functional math budgeting (classroom lesson/activity).

This is an activity that gives students the opportunity to make purchases based on an order ticket. They will be asked to locate the price of each item, correctly calculate the quantity of each item, pay with the appropriate bills/coins combination, as well as make the appropriate change when asked. The slides can be easily edited to change the prices and/or items shown. This has two levels of modifications.

Get festive this Valentine's Day season with your math class! This is a word problem lesson that touches on all four operations and has a focus on utilizing keywords. Feel free to add more problems to your slides lesson or split the operations across multiple days.

This is a budgeting activity that has your students use their given budget to decide what they can purchase without going over their spending limit. It will ask your students to identify different prices such as most expensive and least expensive items, as well as what their change will be after buying certain items. This activity can easily be turned into more of a hands-on activity when incorporating store circulars instead!
