I have taught in many different Special Education settings. At times, I struggle to find just the right materials to teach. I specialize in making materials that follow the grade level curriculum at varied reading and ability levels. I also custom make Life Skills sheets. Edit: This year I got a new position at a vocational school for Computers/Visual & Performing Arts at the high school level (although assignments will be modified). I will be teaching a mash-up of art, technology, and life skills.

This is a printable bookmark that shows the color coded, Close Reading Strategies (Connections, Analysis, and Writers Style) and lists types of figurative language (similie, metaphor, hyperbole, alliteration, and more) with an example for each. Literary Visualization Project and Rubric - Book Report - Independent Reading

This is a work packet/guided reading of the outline of the book "Clara Barton: Angel of the Battlefield" from Time for Kids Biographies. I outlined the whole book and left some of the terms blank. This is meant to guide students in an independent reading of the book.

Students will follow steps in the Webquest and use three different search engines to look up real business. They will answer questions about the hours of operation of the businesses.

Modified Theater Critique for Visual and Performing Arts - PowerPoint Project
I am using this to go with a field trip to a live performance with my special education high school level students. I modified this to fit my students' reading levels.

Parts of Speech Usage Quiz - Sentence Writing - Vocab
This is a quiz I used with my middle school reading class after a parts of speech unit. It focuses on using the words in the correct part of speech rather than just identifying the part of speech. For example, the first part asks students to choose which word is used in the form of a (noun/verb/etc).
