About the store
I've been a special educator in Baltimore City Public Schools since 2011. I split my time between co-teaching with other educators in the inclusive setting, pulling students out for resource special education, consulting with teachers on how to help their students meet their IEP goals, and monitoring my caseload of students across grades Pre-K to 5th grade. My biggest educational belief is that instruction should be designed to meet ALL learners right from the beginning! In 2016, I attended an Orton-Gillingham training and it completely changed my outlook on the scope and sequence of teaching reading! Teaching style

I structure all my lessons in any subject area using the gradual release model where I slowly lead students towards independence by explicitly modeling my expectations, working as a team, and then finally working independently. I believe that a strong foundation in phonemic awareness and phonics are essential to emergent readers, so I use a range of multi-sensory strategies to engage young readers in my lessons. Overall, my teaching style relies heavily on creating positive relationships with my students and letting them know I'm here to help them make the progress we both know they can.
