SPED-CIFIC Teaching

This activity is to branch off of writing checks and balancing a check book. Students will be given a task to purchase Christmas gifts at 4 different stores. Students will write checks to each store to "purchase" the items. Then use the check register to balance their checkbook to see how much money they have left over from their Christmas shopping spree.

During our unit over bacteria. We did a bacteria lab in class and swabbed 10 common items we touch or come in contact with everyday. Not everyone has the materials available to grow their own bacteria so you may use this power point to view petri dishes of grown bacteria. There are also questions at the end of the power point and after some slides to keep students engaged during the lesson. Use it to supplement or use it at the end of a lesson if you cant do the lab yourself!

For use in special education or any financial literacy course. Students will create their own "Life after School" they will search a career, find a place to live, and even set up a bank account.
