About the store

I am an ASHA certified Speech Language Pathologist who never has a boring day. I work in self-contained classrooms for students on the spectrum, emotionally disturbed, cognitively disordered, and other disabilities on top of having aggressive tendencies or behaviors that interfere with learning. I have worked in elementary, middle, and high school classrooms (high school being my absolute favorite).

Experience

Teaching style

Individualized direct instruction and group instruction within the classroom (modeling for teachers and TA's). I do one on one therapy to teach the skill and each week I end with a group within the classroom to generalize learned skills. This helps serve as a model and allows me to observe how the students do in the classroom paired with other students.

My own education history

I graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelors in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a minor in Special Education (May 2009). I then earned my Master's in Communication Sciences and Disorders (Speech Language Pathology) (May 2012). I have had experience in acute rehab facilities, outpatient offices, public schools, and self-contained classrooms.
