Experience

Welcome to SpeechyQueen! With a background as a licensed speech-language pathologist working predominantly in public schools, I understand the unique challenges educators and therapists face when trying to engage students with diverse communication needs. My resources are thoughtfully designed to be both effective and accessible, drawing from years of experience in creating materials that work in real-life environments. Whether you're supporting students in traditional classrooms, virtual settings, or specialized programs, you'll find practical, ready-to-use tools here that can be easily integrated into your sessions. My goal is to provide materials that save you time, support your students' progress, and make learning more engaging for everyone.

Teaching style

My approach to creating resources is rooted in making learning accessible, engaging, and meaningful for all students. I believe in incorporating real-life contexts into lessons, ensuring that students can apply their skills outside the classroom. The materials I design emphasize flexibility, allowing educators to adapt them to meet the unique needs of each student. Whether you're focusing on language development, social communication, or life skills, my resources are built to foster growth through active learning and interaction. I strive to make each lesson practical, purposeful, and fun, helping students build confidence as they master essential skills.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse student populations and contributing to the field of speech-language pathology in a variety of ways. One of my proudest moments was having my own booth at the ASHA Convention, where I showcased my self-published children's book, Sammy Goes to Speech, designed to help children and families understand the speech therapy process in a fun and relatable way. Additionally, I’ve been honored to participate in the Washington Education Association's Representative Assembly, where I collaborated with fellow educators to advocate for policies that benefit students and schools across the state. I also took great pride in developing and leading a bilingual after-school group called "Sound Spot,” aimed at improving early literacy and phonemic awareness for kindergarten and first-grade students. The program also engaged parents, equipping them with strategies to support their children's learning at home. Another rewarding experience was co-leading a social skills summer camp for children, where we created a nurturing environment for young learners to practice and improve their social communication and pragmatic skills in fun, hands-on ways.

Additional biographical information

As a speech-language pathologist, my passion for communication goes beyond the classroom and therapy sessions—it's part of my everyday life. I’m also a parent to a wonderful daughter who is currently in speech therapy, which gives me a unique perspective as both a professional and a parent navigating the world of speech and language development. My husband and I both work from home, sharing our space with our beloved Great Dane mix, Banksy, who keeps me company while I create resources and provide speech therapy to my students.
