Sprouting into Second

This graphic organizer can be used with any type of photograph or primary source. Students examine a photograph and record what they see/observe without inferences. Then students reflect and write what they think their observation means. Finally, students record what they are wondering about the photograph.

This booklet was made to supplement Unit 1: Families and Communities are Important in the first grade NYC Passport to Social Studies curriculum. It can be used with any family unit. Students complete sentence starters, identifying a family rule and how it keeps them safe, healthy and happy.
