Experience

I am super excited to begin my 9th year of teaching this fall! I have had the incredible opportunity to teach across two districts and four schools. I have taught 1st, 5th, and 2nd grades as a classroom teacher where I became passionate about teaching reading and supporting all of my students in becoming proficient readers. Teaching style

I truly believe in the importance of creating a warm and welcoming classroom where each student feels that they belong, and also holding my students to high expectations. I've also found over the past nine years that organization is key. Finally, I would say I am planned yet flexible. While I love having a solid plan, I've learned that oftentimes you may have to deviate from that plan to help meet your students where they are in that moment (and that's ok).

Awards & shining teacher moments

One of my absolute favorite teaching memories was watching my 5th graders become totally enthralled with The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and the way they reacted to the end of novel. It inspired so many of my students to try different genres and become more excited about reading!

Additional biographical information

When my husband and I found out we were pregnant with our first child, he endearingly nicknamed her Little Sprout. Named after our sweet girl, my goal for this page is to provide educators with useful and engaging resources that support them in sprouting up the learners in their classrooms!
