Students have their collaboration groups, in the collaboration groups students are also numbered off. Students love working collaboratively to jigsaw vocabulary and strategies with each other, and then present their ideas with their number groups. It's interactive, student led, and allows kids to explain their thinking in their own words.

Begin the year with Number Talks using dot images to encourage students to think of varies strategies to solve each of the images. Collect answers in the piggy bank, record the student's names, space to demonstrate each student's math thinking. By providing 3 columns on the Number talks display allows for the teacher to show all the varies ways students can solve an math problem and how all responses and thinking is valued equally.
