Fueled by my teaching experience and a desire to help fellow educators, I left the classroom in 2005 and StarrMatica was born. 18 years later, I continue to be a leader in the field of innovative classroom resources. Digital Math Manipulatives for the Common Core: Brilliant Beadstring Rekenrek
This guide was designed to help teachers use a rekenrek to teach students how to visually recognize a number as two sets of combined objects, how to compare two sets of objects using the matching strategy, and how to construct and deconstruct the same number in different ways. The guide shares a weblink to a free digital manipulative, instructions for using the manipulative, suggested uses, and four example activities.
