About the store
The power of YET. During my first years of teaching, I didn’t realize the power of yet. Now, after 13 years in the middle school classroom, I know how important it is to have a “yet” mindset. Students certainly don’t have it all figured out yet, and many times, neither do teachers. Teachers visit TPT when they want something an experienced teacher has created for their classroom because they do not have the time to create it. I hope that I can add value to your classroom and help support you and your students this year!

Experience

The power of YET. During my first years of teaching, I didn’t realize the power of yet. Now, after 13 years in the middle school classroom, I know how important it is to have a “yet” mindset. Teaching style

Science lessons that follow the 5E model -- engage, explore, explain, extend, and evaluate -- put a structure in place that help reach adolescents in middle school and high school. Piaget originally proposed how children's intelligence and abilities change as they grow, and this understanding is important when designing science lessons. Piaget referred to the concrete operational stage (ages 7-11) and the formal operational stage (ages 11 to adulthood). My teaching style is hybridized -- some days I am the facilitator or coach, and other days I am a lecturer. How I teach is dependent upon what and how I intend to teach the topic.
