Statistics project for normally distributed data. Based on interest, students will look for normally distributed data. They will draw the normal curve with mean and standard deviations marked. Student will test z-scores to compare areas under the curve. Can be used to support learning or as a project-based assessment or performance task.
Students pose a statistical question about an explanatory and response variable of their choice. They collect 20 data points through research or in-person collection. They will make a data display (scatterplot) and then analyze correlation and calculate the equation of the regression line and explain slope and y-intercept in context.
Statistics research project can be used as project-based assessment or performance task to engage students in the research of their choice around quantitative data. Student will collect 50 data points and run a five number summary (minimum, quartile 1, median, quartile 3, and maximum), find the mean, and create a data display (histogram, bar graph, stem-and-leaf plot, or box plot).
