Hello and welcome!! I'm Sommer, a teacher from Queensland Australia. I have been teaching for 20 years, most in lower primary, and am currently teaching Prep (first year of school)! I am also a mummy to 3 beautiful children. My son has autism and a visual impairment and he is the inspiration behind a great deal of my resources. I absolutely love what I do and my passion is creating resources that make any learner feel like they're succeeding and having fun! Learning support, early years education and adapting for special needs is where my heart lies.

Macaroon Beginning Sounds Cover Up
A great resource for literacy rotations or even use for observational assessment. Use manipulatives to cover up the pictures that start with that beginning sound. The inspiration for these has come from cute macaroon erasers from Kmart (Australia) but you could easily use counters, playdough or buttons.
I have purposely used similar sounds as the alternates to add a slight challenge to this activity.
Each beginning sound is represented 6 times on each page except for ‘x’ where it is beginning

Teaching style
I believe in stimulating, engaging and play based learning in the lower years. You don't get to be a child for long and school should be where you learn without knowing you are learning. I love my classroom to be bright, colourful and visually informative to my students, especially those who may not be able to read just yet.
