A fun STEM or computing text encoding activity where students create a simple foldable card for Valentine’s Day. The front cover gives them space to make their own pixel image, and the resources include an explanation of how pixel colors are represented in binary code. For the inside of the card, the students can write a message in either binary code or Unicode, depending on the template. The back of the card has a binary or Unicode letter chart so the intended recipient can decode their message

An easy no-prep decoding activity where students decode the binary code to figure out which president is named by the code box. There are 2 worksheet versions: matching (easier) and fill-in-the-blank (harder). There are also 2 versions of the binary code chart, one larger one with a coloring border and a smaller one to save paper (will need to be cut in half).Answer keys included. Happy President’s Day!
