Gumdrop Structure Inquiry Challenge
Let the kids play with gumdrops to build a structure with toothpicks, that will hold a book. I include in this file a through teacher's guide to show how this activity can be used with kindergartners all the way up to high school at varying levels of inquiry.

Matching Color Pictures to Color Words
These student handouts will help emerging readers recognize 10 color words and to distinguish it from other color words. Product includes 5 student activity pages, with two colors per page. The colored pairs include green and red, blue and orange, yellow and purple, black and white, pink and brown. Directions at the top of each page read, "Look at the picture and say its color. Free Coin Probability Lab
Using coins to teach probability is by no means unique, and I've not really done anything that's worthy of mention, just that I've added well organized data tables that includes space for a lot of practice calculating probability percentages. I also make sure that students can apply the concept of expected outcome. They compare their data to what is expected, pool their data with others, and see whether the data get closer to the expected.

Teaching style
For my STEM lessons, I scaffold lessons into varying degrees of inquiry, to prepare students to do their own independent research project.
For homeschooling my own children, we use literature (trade books) and learn using thematic units.

Additional biographical information
I am also the author of a blog (http://www.STEMmom.org) that has become a compilation of my experiences as a homeschooling mother of 2 (ages 5 and 18 months) who also still teaches STEM labs twice a week.
This means that the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) activities I share are for the two extremes; early childhood and high school. Therefore, one day I may post the STEM connections related to playing with playdough; the next post may share ways to increase students' curiosity about molecular and cellular biology; and another post may address the struggles of being a believer who enjoys the scientific method. This is my life, and for what its worth, I'm going to share it with you. Let's enjoy the ride.
