In this product you get both a simple safety presentation, with worksheet and answer key, to use in your robotics class. You also get an introduction to the basics of the structure and electronics parts. These are Google Slides which you can copy and modify, and Google Docs that you can assign to students digitally, or print out. (I have recently made some updates to the parts presentation to include some of the new VEX parts)

This is a 5 day a week Bell Work for VEX Robotics V5 (VEXcode) platform. Each Bell work covers one week (18 total), is editable, and has all the answers in the notes section of the Google Sheets presentation. These are intended for an introductory course where students have no background information. Students start with building mechanisms and devices, then move into programming them using VEXcode.

This is a mini-unit on fingerprints that I use with my middle school students. There is a reading article about the history of fingerprints, along with a student worksheet. There is also an editable PowerPoint - with an accompanying worksheet; a fingerprint collection page, and a fingerprint analysis page. Worksheets are in Word format and can be edited or added to by you.

This is a programming activity intended for after students have built the basic Testbed. I provide students with a picture and an example one, and cut them loose, so I don't have specific build instructions. Once the Testbed is built, I have students walk through the basics of how to set up VEXcode and then how to set up individual code sets for different tasks. This is a small unit designed to get you and your kids started with computer science! These lessons focus on some general computer science concepts like Pair Programming and Computational Thinking. Then they use MIT's App Inventor to help student do some basic block-based programming. Students will get to design their first Android App with these lessons. This bundle includes, lessons, student worksheets, screen shots, videos, and directions.

This is an update to the previous Engineering notebook. I have added a Word document copy of the notebook. This is what I print out, comb bind, and give to my students every quarter for my STEM engineering classes. There is also a Publisher document, so that you can edit it to match what you do in your room, and put your personal touch on it. Enjoy.

This is matching game. Students will match up the definition, explanation, algorithm, and return values for a specific Python function. “Design a function to find the area of a rectangle” def rectangle_area (width, height):; ‘’’Calculates the area of a rectangle Accepts numerical values for width and height Returns int or float’’’; area = width * height; return area. There are 9 separate functions to work with, but more may be added to individualize the game.

This is a great template for your kids to fill in for any CSI report or Forensics unit that you teach. It comes as a Word document so that you can edit it to meet the needs of your students.
