STEM with STACY

The students will be introduced to Iggy Peck, Architect through a story map and character traits ditto. They will begin to explore what an architect does and look at bridge design, focusing on geometry. The students will have 3 hands-on labs to complete this unit: "Which paper column can hold the most books?", "Build a truss bridge using craft sticks" and "Bridge building STEM challenge using EDP." Students will use the K'Nex Bridge kits to create a variety of bridge designs. During this unit students will explore: 1. What is a bridge? 2. Can paper be used to make structures? 3. How are shapes used in bridge design? 4. Beam bridge challenge 5. Truss bridge design challenge 1 & 2 6. Final bridge design challenge
