I am in my 18th year as an educator. I have taught a variety of grade levels and staff development workshops on writers workshop and using the six traits of writing.
Christmas Math Journal containing seasonal word problems in a format that requires students to look for certain important parts of the problem, draw a picture to solve, create a math problems, and explain their mathematical thoughts. It comes complete with a rubric on every page. My students became very good at attacking word problems and they became less scary for them.
Tic Tac Toe board of multiplication choice board. Students can choose different ways to practice their multiplication. Also included is a reading extension project choice board. It is a great way to differentiate and provide choices.
Gingerbread Unit Centers and activiites that provide a fun learning experience integrating subjects. I used this in December and it was a great addition to my classroom. I have used it in second and third grades.
Writers Workshop involves using charts to teach mini lessons and refresh the memory of students. Photos of charts help to spark ideas for writers workshop lessons. The charts can be reproduced on chart paper.
