7 years teaching EFL (English) abroad, and 4 years as a Middle School Science Teacher. I like to support development of academic language, and create hands-on/ manipulative materials for my students. I tend to create resources for struggling students in my middle school classroom, so some may be appropriate for higher elementary as well. Thanks for stopping by!
This coloring page has been used as an extension activity for my students who are more advanced in ecology standards and need to apply their knowledge to a real-world issue. I included some comprehension questions on the back to make sure that students actually read the information. It is meant to be a fun (but science-based) reward for students who finish their work early.
This foldable is meant to help students explain and think about phase changes, and changes in states of matter. It can also be used by the student for review of key vocabulary for a test. a brief explanation of thermal energy and the models used for the three states of matter appears on the back. This package comes with 2 variants of the foldable. Variant A is more focused on writing examples of different phase changes, while variant B is more focused on explaining what happens during each phase
This Foldable is a mini-research project on the states of Matter. There are two versions included. One has an example drawing for each state of matter, which students can color. The other has three blank spaces so that students can draw their own picture. Photos show the first version with examples of what students might write. Information covered includes: Names of 3 states of matter (Solid, Liquid, Gas) The temperature that water exists in each state The changes each state goes through (e.g ev
This is a special combination of the first half of the symbiosis coloring pages I created. My students have a great time with these when finished early with an assignment or test. They also are an appreciated resource for substitute teachers for those early finishers who need an activity to occupy their active minds. I have used the information on these pages to start some good conversations about ecological relationships that spark student curiosity about nature. If you enjoy this set, please c
I designed this coloring sheet as a way to introduce my students to other types of ecological relationships besides predation, which was heavily covered in ecology standards. This could be used as a quick time-filler, review, or engagement hook before going deeper. My students just completed a poster project on symbiosis, and examples like this were helpful to give them ideas. I'll be creating more resources like this, and posting them as I complete. Thanks for checking it out!
This is a coloring page designed to help students think about human actions which have a big effect on the environment. The information contained on the page should help students to answer the questions, and personal reflection on choices and possible solutions will be needed to complete the questions. Great for discussion after a project/video/lab on plastic pollution. This is also a fun reward for students who finish their work early. It can further be used as a conversation starter to get stu
This is a combination of second set of symbiosis coloring pages. I had so much fun making the first set that I just kept going! I like to use these pages to let kids who finish early, or have downtime after a test, color for a bit, while thinking about the diversity of animal interactions in ecosystems, beyond merely predator and prey relationships. I often also use the coloring pages to spark conversations about ecological relationships with my students. It helps to have a wide range of option
This activity is an exploration of the unique ecosystem of Mono Lake in California. Students will review the included information and use arrows to connect the predator/prey relationships of this real-world location. This is great as a supplement to reading/videos about ecological relationships, or as a quick reteaching for struggling students, or an independent activity for fast finishers. The bast part of all is that there are two versions of this activity! One is an editable Google Slideshow
