Balanced Literacy, English Language Arts, Other (ELA)
This is a unit plan that includes worksheets, learning goals, and success criteria. I have created it as a word document so it can be easily edited and adaptable for many grades. There are lessons and activities after the 12 day unit plan description and ideas.
This has keywords, comprehension, and short answer questions based on chapters 1 and 2 from The Giver. This could be easily adapted for a quiz or test.
This is a versatile rubric and success criteria teachers can use for story writing in their English classes. This follows the Knowledge, Thinking, Communication, and Application categories (KTCA). There are success criteria and a checklist for students to use in the writing process.
Students can practice analyzing and critically looking at their textbook. It may help them become familiar with the textbook at the start of the school year. This is also an introductory activity I use with my students that are enrolled in the OSSLC course.
This is a follow-up activity to the events from The Giver when the main character is assigned a mandatory job. I also included an answer page for each of the questions.
Graphic organizer with prompts to successfully analyze advertisements (paper, video, audio) for media literacy units. Can be adapted to many middle and upper school grades.
