Experience

With over five years of experience in middle school education, I specialize in creating engaging, trauma-informed ELA resources that meet the diverse needs of students. My background includes working in a Title I school, where I develop tools and strategies to support students from all backgrounds, especially those impacted by trauma. I bring a balance of rigor and relationship-building to help every student feel seen and supported.

Teaching style

My approach is centered on fostering a positive classroom environment where students feel respected, valued, and motivated to learn. Through relationship-building, community-centered activities, and structured routines, I engage students in interactive and meaningful learning experiences. My resources focus on trauma-informed practices, high expectations, and building students’ confidence as readers and writers.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My proudest moments include seeing students who were once reluctant readers engage with books, participate actively in discussions, and ultimately thrive. My school has recognized me for my work in trauma-informed education and for my dedication to creating a welcoming classroom environment for all.

My own education history

I hold a Master’s degree in Trauma-Informed Teaching, which has shaped my approach to creating resources that are not only academically rigorous but also supportive and inclusive. My educational background drives my passion for working with students affected by trauma and helping all students grow academically and emotionally.

Additional biographical information

In addition to my work in the classroom, I enjoy blogging about trauma-informed teaching, ELA strategies, and ways to build strong relationships with students. My Teachers Pay Teachers store is an extension of my dedication to helping students and educators succeed.
