Experience

I am an educator with over 22 years experience working as a classroom ELA and Social Studies teacher at the middle and high school levels. I have also worked as an Instructional Coach, and in school administration. I have earned my National Board Certification in Early Adolescent Literacy, and I have two masters degrees, one in Curriculum and Instruction and the other in Educational Leadership.

Teaching style

I am a student-centered teacher who believes that when we meet students where they are, and offer them what they need, all students can participate and learn at high levels. My classroom is not quiet, I believe in collaborative learning, the power of student led discussion, and the heavy lifting that takes place in the classroom community needs to be by the students.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have presented at a NEA conference on the power of teacher collaboration. I have been nominated for Washington State Teacher of the Year. I have previously been recognized as "Teacher of the Year" in my school community.
