Experience

I have over seven years of dedicated experience as a Special Education Teacher, specifically working with diverse learners aged 7 to 18. My classroom expertise is built on working with students with a wide range of profiles, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD, Global Developmental Delay, Dyslexia, and visual impairments. During my tenure at a prominent special education school in Singapore, I taught a comprehensive variety of subjects ranging from Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Vocational Skills to Numeracy, English Language, and Physical Education. This extensive background allows me to create resources that are not only academic but also focused on life skills and holistic development.

Teaching style

My teaching philosophy is rooted in a neuro-affirming approach that treats every student with dignity and respect while prioritizing a safe and inclusive learning environment. I specialize in differentiated instruction and the innovative integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to make literacy and numeracy accessible to all learners. I believe heavily in "Collaborative Teaming," working alongside therapists and psychologists to ensure materials are therapeutically sound and effective. My resources reflect this style—they are designed to be engaging, structured, and adaptable to support students with high support needs through calm, relational, and clear behavioral management strategies.

Awards & shining teacher moments

One of my proudest professional achievements was collaborating with the Ministry of Education (MOE) SPED Branch to develop a comprehensive Social Emotional Learning (SEL) syllabus for special schools. I had the honor of presenting our work on "Collaborative Practices" at the SPED Learning Day Fest, sharing strategies with the wider education community. Beyond curriculum design, I have taken on significant leadership roles, including organizing whole-school events like Graduation and Children's Day, and developing the Scheme of Work for Home Living modules within the Life Skills Department. These experiences have honed my ability to create structured, high-quality curriculum materials that are ready for immediate classroom use.

My own education history

I am dedicated to continuous professional growth to provide the best support for diverse learners. I am currently pursuing a Masters in Special and Additional Learning Needs at the University of East London. This advanced study builds upon my professional foundation as a qualified educator, holding a Diploma in Special Education from the National Institute of Education at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. My academic background ensures that the materials I create are grounded in current research and effective pedagogical strategies.

Additional biographical information

To ensure my teaching methods remain current and effective, I have pursued numerous specialized certifications, including strategies for increasing social skills in children with Autism, Body Safety Skills, and Level 1 Training in the Picture Exchange Communication System® (PECS). I am also trained in identifying the Female Profile of Autism and Universal Design for Learning. Originally from Singapore and currently based in São Paulo, I am a multilingual educator proficient in both English and Chinese, bringing a multicultural perspective to my educational tools.
