About the store
Welcome to Sunny's Math Studio! *** MY EXPERIENCE With 20 years of dedicated service in education, my journey has taken me through almost every facet of the school system. I spent 15 incredible years as a classroom math teacher, which laid the foundation for my next chapter: serving as a TK-12 Math Coach for two years. Additionally, I have stepped into leadership roles as a Curriculum Adoption Coordinator and an Intervention Specialist. This unique blend of classroom teaching, coaching, and curriculum design allows me to create resources that are both classroom-tested and strategically aligned to big-picture learning goals. *** MY TEACHING STYLE & PHILOSOPHY My approach to education is deeply rooted in John Dewey’s philosophy of educating the entire person. I act as a facilitator in the classroom, guiding the learning process while actively learning from my students along the way. I believe a math classroom thrives on community—we are all growing together, and every student has a unique contribution to make. In my resources, you will find a thoughtful balance of: • The "Why" and the "How": Equal emphasis on real-world applications and necessary computational practice. • Inquiry & Collaboration: Lessons driven by heavy questioning, peer discussion, and student-led investigations. • Meeting Students Where They Are: Utilizing alternative assessments and creative projects to celebrate diverse ways of thinking. *** SHINING TEACHER MOMENTS The most rewarding moments of my career come from watching a student who previously identified as "not a math person" experience a total breakthrough. My favorite days are when the classroom transforms into a bustling studio of collaboration—where students are arguing passionately about a mathematical investigation, asking deep questions, and taking ownership of a real-world project. *** MY EDUCATION HISTORY • Bachelor of Science in Mathematics • Advanced Training: Extensive specialization in TK-12 instructional coaching, intervention strategies, and curriculum alignment. *** ABOUT ME When I’m not designing resources for Sunny's Math Studio, I am passionate about creating and working with my hands. Just as I love finding the beauty and structure in mathematics, I bring that same eye for detail and creativity into my personal life through crafting and artisan design. I believe that creativity and logic go hand-in-hand, and I strive to infuse that balance into every single resource I build for your classroom!
