About the store
Dr. Jacqueline Sund: Retired college professor in the field of design, I spent the last 6 years as a volunteer tutoring kindergarten and 1st graders. Horrified at the lack of attention to handwriting education in today's classrooms, I set about to design a more efficient way to both teach and learn this essential fine motor skill. Handwriting is a complex activity which contributes significantly to brain development and is directly related to both math and reading competence. We cannot afford to drop it from early education as it is quite foundational.

Beginner Tracing Booklets for handwriting - Sunshine Script
Preschoolers begin building motor memory for handwriting by finger-tracing following the arrows along the letter path. Letters are group by similar forming strokes into 4 booklets.
Format:
8.5 x 11, portrait, 36 pages. Makes 2 sets when pages are cut in half. May be laminated for use with erasable markers.

Tracing Workbook for Handwriting with Sunshine Script
For early handwriting in Sunshine Script, lessons use the traffic light theme for understanding where to begin, turn and stop in the formation of letters. Build motor memory and pencil control in preparation for the Scripting Workbook.

8.5 x 11 landscape, 36 pages. May be used as paper worksheets for each student, or laminated for use with erasable markers, or projected for interactive use with Promethean or Smart Board.

Recognizing Other Fonts - Handwriting Worksheets - Sunshine Script
Children are expected to recognize many fonts in their daily environment. While we want students to learn to script letters in one practiced and efficient manner, they must recognize many others. These pages introduce nine other fonts ranging from block to script. The student goes on a ‘treasure hunt’ to locate them among other letter symbols. In the beginning worksheet, student learn by matching. For the advanced worksheet, they must identify upper and lowercase letters without help.
