I have been an Urban Math teacher for 14 years. I am also currently an adjunct professor at our local College and the Esports General Manager for our club and competition group.
Students will need a mirror and tape measure to find the indirect measurement using similarity and proportions of heights outside of the school. A great end of the year activity to get students questioning and finding measurements themselves.
Students are led through 3 levels of difficulty in SCRATCH Coding. Students begin creating a single program that draws polygons on the screen. The second project then has student code a random polygon drawing with a name for the shape. The final project steps students through creating a Sierpinski Triangle.
Using a social media platform student can share out their projects and teachers can grade their projects on a self made rubric.
