This is a periodic table that may be blown up or used as handout/overhead. This periodic table includes the number of electrons in each energy level. A good way to teach about the periodic table is to pay attention to the valence number so that students can see similarity within groups. For example, it is easy to see that all group 1 atoms have 1 valence electron and group 17 atoms each have 7. Seeing the valence number helps when teaching about why atoms bond to begin with. I like chalk boards. I like to write/draw on chalk boards. White boards are good too if you can afford markers...
Good old fashioned lectures! Good old fashioned GOOD lectures. And lots of practice. Good quality labs a must. Nice to be able to throw up a YouTube video of something...like supersonic flight for example.
