About the store

Experience

I have been teaching for the Los Angeles Unified School District in California for the past 15 years. During 6 of those years, I was a Math Coach. Currently I teach at a Title 1 school where most of the students are second language learners. I have designed and taught intervention classes both for math and language arts.

Teaching style

As often as possible, I like to teach in a hands-on, conceptual manner that can be related to the real world. I find that if students just try to memorize one procedure or rule after another, they have trouble remembering them all. Whenever possible, I try to generalize and connect concepts. I have also found ongoing, continuous review to be important.
