I normally send home student work once a week. In that folder I post this form, and keep it there for the grading period. Students set goals in AR and AM for each grading period. This sheet always me to keep documentation that parents have seen their student's work, as well as documents their child's progress with AR and AM. Student's color their own dashboards weekly.

This is a template for a monthly reading log. It allows students to keep track of their reading level, the goal for the grading period, what books they've read, etc. I attach this to the inside of a file folder and they go home every night. When they students take AR tests they can document how they did. When the folder goes back home, the parents are able to see that as well.

Experience

I have been teaching for 12 years now. The majority of my career, I taught 4th grade. I taught AIG (Academically/Intellectually Gifted) 1 year. I was an Instructional Technology Facilitator for 4 years. I have also been a School Improvement Coach. This year is my first year in middle school.

Teaching style

I find that for some people I have a love it or hate it kind of teaching style. I find pride in my classroom management. I am very clear with my expectations, and what consequences will take place if they are not met. I am energetic, loud, and sarcastic. My best school years happen when I can find comic relief somewhere in my classroom.
