Comprehension questions to check for understanding broken down by chapter. I use these in my literature circles. Once students have finished a chapter, they retrieve that chapter's worksheet and work together to find the answers (citing the page number). There are an average of three questions per chapter, depending on the chapter. Questions for all nineteen chapters are included.

This assessment includes: fill in the blanks, matching, short answers and essay question sections. This is an adapted test. I provide a word bank for the fill-in section as well as less short answer questions.

The list of words provided are taken directly from The Shakespeare Stealer by Gary Blackwood, without any changes done to the words. They can be used as a spelling list or as a vocabulary list. A quick "check for understanding" quiz on narrative elements. (Setting, plot, conflict, rising action, resolution, and characters.) Can also be used as an exit ticket or for homework.
After reading the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, students complete a creative writing prompt. Students then draw a scene from the myth on a Greek Vase template (not provided). I recommend teaching a mini-lesson showing myths on actual Greek vases before students begin drawing.
After reading the myth of Pandora's Box, this worksheet asks students to think about one of the monsters that may have emerged, describe it and draw it. Students are also asked extension questions based off of the myth itself.
I use this activity as a closing to our myth unit at the end of the year. I upload the powerpoint onto Google Slides and post it to Google Classroom along with information about different mythical beasts. Students can work individually or in small groups to complete the information on each slide. When students are finished, they present their project to the class.
