If you, like me, do not have a textbook to teach grade 8 math, consider using what I've created. This is unit 1, the first of 8, that was written over the spring and summer of 2020. The entire course is handwritten. I'm offering the first unit of eight as a free resource. Download it, use it, share it, etc. If you like what you see, follow for the following units 2-8. Experience

My name is David Lloyd and I began teaching mathematics in 1996. I've been at it most of the years since and am currently on year number 20 at my home district in Eastern PA.

Teaching style

My teaching style is 'enthusiastic.' Is that a style? A goal is to connect with the students in my classroom. I live in the same district where I teach so relationships are important to me. My classroom has no individual desks but large tables. 3-4 students per table. We do a lot of think-pair-share, collaboration, and independent work. While I don't always hit the mark, I strive for variety and engagement. Activities in class are a welcomed change of pace and TpT has provided many of these activities. I have made many of my own that I will be sharing via TpT.

Awards & shining teacher moments

A couple over the years, but I don't do this for honors/awards, so I've never bothered to remember what they were.

My own education history

I graduated PSU in '96 with a certificate to teach secondary education (math) and have worked as a teacher and coach nearly non-stop since then.
