Experience
I just completed my fifteenth year as an elementary librarian at a Texas school that has K-5th grades. Before becoming a media specialist, I was a first grade teacher for 10 years.
Teaching style
I love to use creative storytelling and fun props to get kids interested in reading. I like to involve my school's classroom teachers in dramatic storytelling elements by having them dress up or act out the books we read and study in the library!
Awards & shining teacher moments
2004 Campus Teacher of the Year;
2016 Campus Educator of the Year
My own education history
I received a B.S. in Elementary Education from Southwest Texas State University in 1990 and earned my School Library Certification from the University of North Texas in 2002.
Additional biographical information
Working in the library is so rewarding because I get to be surrounded by great books and enthusiastic readers all day long!
