About the store
Twenty-plus years of private instruction and tutoring, mostly with competitive and AP-level students. Started with one-on-one sessions — figuring out where a student's confusion actually lived and building the explanation that made it click. Those explanations eventually became visual frameworks, and the frameworks became books. We now publish 40+ titles across AP exam prep, academic competitions, and research skills through Synapse Academic Press on Amazon.

Experience

Twenty-plus years of private instruction and tutoring, mostly with competitive and AP-level students. Started with one-on-one sessions — figuring out where a student's confusion actually lived and building the explanation that made it click. Those explanations eventually became visual frameworks, and the frameworks became books. Teaching style

Visual-first, always. We don't do walls of text or lecture-style content. Every concept gets a framework, a diagram, or a template that students can actually use under test conditions. Everything maps back to the rubric — if it doesn't earn points, it doesn't make the page. We build for students who need structure, not more reading.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Honestly, the best moments aren't awards — they're the messages from students who used our Score 5 essay frameworks and jumped from a 3 to a 5 on their AP exam, or competition teams that placed using our playbook strategies. We've had students tell us our visual approach was the first time an AP concept actually made sense to them. That's the stuff that keeps us going.

My own education history

Our team is a mix of educators, tutors, and subject matter experts — most with degrees from top US and Canadian universities. We come from different backgrounds (STEM, humanities, education, tech) but we all ended up in the same place: working directly with students and figuring out what actually helps them perform. The publishing side grew naturally out of that classroom and tutoring experience.

Additional biographical information

We publish visual-first prep resources for AP exams, academic competitions, and research skills — 40+ titles and counting. Our stuff started as internal materials for small tutoring cohorts. Eventually we figured there was no good reason to keep it locked up.
