About the store
I'm a third grade teacher from Thomson, Georgia- just outside of Augusta. I've taught third grade for six years and first grade before that. Third grade is absolutely my favorite! I've recently been trained in Norman Webb's Depth of Knowledge and assessment design by Karen Bailey. I've been the Science and Social Studies curriculum chair for 3rd grade for the past five years. I've presented twice for Augusta State University's Impacting Student Learning Conferences. This past summer, I joined my county's Common Core Curriculum Design Team.

Want to review bar graph skills and vocabulary? This set includes two levels of bar graph activities (with and without gridlines to assist students). A lack of key words in the questions ensures that students are able to determine the operation needed from reading carefully. Students manipulate the graph to prove that they can do more than gather information from the data. A quiz is included to assess the mini unit. If you like what you see, please leave feedback! Thanks! Tab Purvis

Teaching style

I believe that I must do more than offer my students an education. It's my job to make sure they get it. I do this by having hands on lessons and interactive review games. I hope you will enjoy my teaching style!

Awards & shining teacher moments

Teacher of the Year 2011- Thomson Elementary School <br/> My favorite recognition came 3 years ago when my students stopped me during my class' end of the year recognition ceremony to present a medal, fashioned with staples and notebook paper, for "all the hard work and fun days."

Additional biographical information

I grew up in the country and put myself through college by working as a Victim/Witness Advocate for the local District Attorney's Office. The courtroom is my second passion. My husband, Brian and I have a silly and cute one year old girl named Katie. Wow, things sure have changed since she arrived! :) Brian and I are always on the road, making the most of our lives. What drives me? I love when my brain feels like it is flying 90 miles per hour planning and designing a new way to help that one kid to GET IT.
