This is a great interactive real world mapping application. Students use maps of the different parks from Walt Disney World to review cardinal directions, using a legend, and other basic map reading skills. It is a great review activity that can be used as a whole class lesson or as a center activity. I have also included an activity where students can create their own schedule of rides and places to eat.
This assessment integrates Social Studies (Underground Railroad) with ELA Poetry unit. This was written with 3rd grade CCSS in mind but could be used for 4th & 5th grades as well. Answer key is included and the assessment mixes short response, multiple choice, and labeling.
These Depth of Knowledge (DOK) question stems are great to use during both whole and small group lessons and RTI. They meet the CCSS for grades k-12 to help with critical thinking and higher order thinking skills.
This activity can be done independently, with a partner, or in a small group. Use after students have learned about the three different branches of government; judicial, executive, and legislative. Can be used as an assessment or a supplemental activity.

After my Disney World mapping activities became so popular I ventured on to other theme parks. Sea World was my next adventure. Just like my other mapping activity, students will need to use a map of Sea World San Diego to practice their map reading skills. There is also a bonus activity where students can plan their own adventure at Sea World by using the information obtained from the map.
This is a created assessment for Arizona common core state standards for the 2nd ELA framework, Story Telling Around the World. This trifold is for Macmillan-McGraw-Hill Treasures 3rd grade reading series. It works in conjunction with the story and covers compare and contrast, main idea and details, and comprehension skills. I use these every week with my students and is a great formative assessment.
In my classroom I use these the day after we have read the story as a whole class and had a meaningful discussion about our reading. The next day students re-read the story and complete the trifold.
