I am a professional software engineer with over 20 years of coding experience. In a little over the last 5 years, I had the privilege to volunteer my time as a coding instructor at a local learning center for young students ages 5+. The center has over 100 students enrolled at one same time, and to be an effective instructor, the center teaching model requires me to know each student's level and learning styles. From these combined experiences, I have built my worksheets and assignments based on opportunities for them to practice what matters in the learning process.

Teaching style

Over this period of time, I learned that teaching students to code is not just ensuring simple things like engagement and consistent practice, but also the steps to teach them in plays a big part. Coding takes patience, paying attention to detail, and persistence to overcome the hurdles in learning anything new. And the type of exercises also really matters!
