Students like to feel special on their birthday. I printed these out at the beginning of the school year and let the kids decorate them any way they like. They put their name on it and the date of their birthday in the box. I had them write the month on the back. I collected them and put them in order. Underneath our monthly calendar, I display the cupcakes for each month. At the end of the month, the students get to take their cupcake down and take it home.

Experience

Teaching style
I am currently teaching in a project-based-learning (deeper-learning) classroom environment. Our teaching style has proven to maintain student interest by providing them with real-life experiences and projects that create connections to the world around them. I must admit I was skeptical at first but now I love it. It is such a joy to see the kids take pride and ownership of their "beautiful work".
