Teaching style

My educational philosophy is that passionate teaching and educational leadership inspires academic success. Whether synchronous or asynchronous, the dimensions of my teaching and leadership craft are built upon the foundational belief that meeting students and teachers where they are ensures that they reach the pinnacle of success both inside and out of the classroom. In my in person, virtual, and hybrid classroom, every student matters and every student will receive the best education possible. Through effective communication, planning, and organization, I seek to provide an engaging and dynamic learning and leadership experience for my students and teachers using appropriate technology tools and resources. I believe in all of my students and I am to empower all of my teachers. I set high expectations for each and every one of them. Regardless of the setting of my classroom, no matter whether teaching my intervention students students or my college students at Georgia Southern University, the educational experiences in my classroom are real and empowering.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Honors and awards in teaching that I have received include being the 2015 Savannah Chatham County District Teacher of the Year, a Georgia Innovation in Teaching Award Winner, a Top 40 Distinguished Alumni for the University of Georgia, a 2015 Notable Alumni for Armstrong State University, serving on both Governor Nathan Deal's Teacher Advisory Committee as well as State Superintendent Richard Woods' Teacher Advisory Council, and being on the 2016 Fishman Prize for Superlative Classroom Practice Honor Roll. Most recently, I have had the honor of being filmed by Georgia Public Broadcasting to share my message for the teachers of Georgia through the Real Teachers, Real Voices Campaign. I also have earned Reading, Early Childhood Math, K-5 Math, Gifted, Science, ESOL, and Online Teaching endorsements. I am also trained as a teacher and facilitator in LETRS Volumes 1 and 2. As an educational leader in our city and state, I value the many opportunities that I have to enrich classrooms, empower teachers, and strengthen instructional practices.

My own education history

I am a University of Georgia alumna (Dec. 2008) where I graduated Summa Cum Laude and obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a major in Early Childhood Education. I am also an Armstrong State University alumna (Dec. 2010) where I graduated with honors and obtained my Masters in Education degree in Early Childhood Education. In May 2020, I graduated with an Educational Specialist Degree in Elementary Education from Georgia Southern University. In May of 2024, I completed my Educational Doctorate Degree in Elementary Education at Brenau University.
