About the store
My name is Trish Sharkey, and I have been teaching in a private school setting for over 30 years, all of them in third grade. I absolutely love teaching, and it has been my passion for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was a little girl sitting in my own third grade classroom, I knew this was what I wanted to do. My third grade teacher made learning so much fun that we didn’t even realize we were learning. Her joy, creativity, and love for teaching left a lasting impression on me, and ever since I began my teaching career, my goal has been to create that same engaging, joyful learning environment for my own students.

Experience

My name is Trish Sharkey, and I have been teaching in a private school setting for over 30 years, all of them in third grade. I absolutely love teaching, and it has been my passion for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was a little girl sitting in my own third grade classroom, I knew this was what I wanted to do. My third grade teacher made learning so much fun that we didn’t even realize we were learning. Her joy, creativity, and love for teaching left a lasting impression on me, and ever since I began my teaching career, my goal has been to create that same engaging, joyful learning environment for my own students.

Teaching style

My teaching style centers around creating a very active and engaging classroom where students are excited to learn. I love incorporating games, hands-on activities, and creative “tricks” that help students understand concepts in a fun and memorable way. Keeping children engaged is always my priority, so lessons are interactive and lively. By making learning enjoyable, students stay motivated, participate eagerly, and build a strong love for learning while gaining the skills they need to succeed.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Throughout my teaching career, I have been honored to receive several awards and recognitions that reflect my dedication to education. These include being named to "Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers" and "Who’s Who Among America’s Professional Women". My work has also been published in "Mailbox Magazine", allowing me to share effective classroom ideas with other educators. I was recognized as Acme Teacher of the Month twice. In addition, I was selected as the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Tech Digital Ambassador and Tech Social Media Ambassador, highlighting my commitment to integrating technology and innovation into education.

My own education history

I am a product of Catholic education, which gave me a strong foundation in both academics and values. Growing up in that environment taught me discipline, responsibility, and the importance of giving back. I went on to attend St. Joseph University in Philadelphia, where I continued to grow academically. Overall, my education played a big role in shaping who I am today.

Additional biographical information

I was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The experiences and connections I gained there have played a meaningful role in shaping the person and educator I am today.
