This is just a small sample of word problems that I use with my 1st graders in thier math journals. I have them draw a picture, write a number sentence and then an actual sentence telling about the answer. This gets them used to writing and explaining how they get the answers.

Teaching style

I believe ALL children can learn! You have to figure out what works for each student. I have high expectations of my students and their ability to meet and exceed these expectations never ceases to amaze me! We like to have fun while learning in my classroom!

My own education history

I received my bachelors degree in early childhood education from Western Kentucky University and my masters degree in administration and supervision from Tennessee Technological University.
