This is a great project to get students interested in real financial literacy! It is also practical and shows them how to apply the math they are learning in school in a realistic way! This is completely ready to go, no prep, and the only material needed is internet access! This is designed with the fifth grade math TEKS in mind, but can be used for any upper elementary or middle school classrooms. Each step is explained thoroughly, although some teacher input may be required for a few steps.

There are 34 weeks worth of weekly research projects. Each project requires nothing but the internet and some sticky notes! The topics are greatly varied and all involve math and another topic, like the Grand Canyon, winning the lottery, or volcanoes, and many more. These can be used as extension for higher level students, as center work, or as early finisher work, or really any way you can think of!
