This rough draft outline allows students to stay organized during the process. A short writing guide that works well at the end of the school year. Lesson Tip: Before using this writing tool, have students create a visual timeline using photos from home or images from online, magazines, newspapers, etc. Students can then select ONE major life event to focus their memoir on.

About the store

Experience

English and journalism background. Two years teaching middle-school reading/language arts. One year focused on all-level (6th-8th) grades. Co-teaching experience in a high-needs school. Taking time off to raise my son, but I am currently teaching a journalism course for gifted children through Northwestern University. I am looking to also freelance for an online publication.

Teaching style

I prefer project-based learning to help differentiate for all learners. I like to create my own original units or develop my own materials after being inspired by other ideas. When possible, I incorporate cooperative learning, technology, and many visuals to make the classroom colorful and fun. I am flexible and always open to new ideas to improve my craft of teaching.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Excellent teacher rating.

My own education history

Bachelors in English and communication. Graduated with a creative writing emphasis after completing a poetry chapbook. Masters in Teaching in progress. I am ALMOST done...4 more classes!

Additional biographical information

I love to run and have completed four half marathons and two marathons in Chicago. Running has taught me many things about life and has given me the energy needed to teach in the middle school classroom.
