Teaching style

I am a fifth-grade teacher who believes in creating a structured, respectful learning environment built on high expectations and fairness. I value clear communication and collaboration, and I design instruction that blends hands-on learning with a variety of teaching strategies to support diverse learners. I encourage students to embrace their individuality and use their unique strengths to contribute meaningfully in the classroom.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was selected by my school as the Teacher of the Year for the 2023-2024 school year. This same year I was honored with a metal from the city of Santa Cruz, Bolivia being recognized as a top educator in the city. These two awards were so meaningful because I learned everything about being a teacher as a taught, this is not what I studied, but it is my passion, and being recognized for doing something you love is the best!

My own education history

I grew up attending public schools in California and Minnesota. I attended George Fox University, where I studied Mass Media Communications and Media Broadcasting. I also was granted my Substitute teaching licence in California. After college I also obtained my TESOL certification.

Additional biographical information

I am an American wife, mom, and teacher living in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. I live my daily life in multiple languages. I speak Italian and Spanish with my husband, English and Spanish with my daughter, and all three languages with friends and family. I teach at an English school, where I teach in English but communicate mostly in Spanish with teachers, staff, and parents. I grew up in California but moved around frequently, and I have also lived and worked in Italy.
