This is a summer reading list to give to your classroom families. The books are leveled A through K. This is a great resource for parents to use to keep track of summer reading. They can find books at Scholastic or your local public library.

After reading Amelia Bedelia's First Apple Pie, students can work on retelling the steps Amelia took to make the apple pie. Students will draw a picture for each step. This is great for retelling and also doubles as a "how-to" activity.

We use easy readers every Friday. Each easy reader has a sight word. This easy reader is called "Thank You, Mom" and is used around Mother's Day. The sight word is THANK Students write their name. Students highlight the word THANK. Students illustrate the book. Students take the book over the weekend to read. This is a great way to create "at-home" libraries and learn new sight words.

This is a emergent reader you can use with your students. It will help exposing them to the possibility of wearing a mask at school. Emergent readers are great to use when focusing on 1:1 correspondence, fluency, accuracy and sight words.

You can use this activity during your guided reading groups or phonemic awareness lesson. You just slip the worksheet inside of a dry erase sleeve and work through the activities with your students.

This is a great way for you to assess your students. In class, you can have this as a task at centers. Students can read through the words as they record themselves on their device. During remote learning, students can read through the words as their parents record them. Then parents just upload the recording onto your learning platform.

We read I Just Forgot by Mercer Mayer. Then we worked together to brainstorm ways to be responsible. Students can fill in the bubbles with their ideas.

During our phonemic awareness practices, I write a word family on the board and students call out words that belong in that word family. This practices our word families and rhyming. Students are highly engaged in this activity. I created this document as part of their literacy homework and remote learning practice. When students can master their word families, they get a deeper understand of sounding out words and their accuracy while reading improves.

These Valentines are cute and easy to assemble. 1. Cut the Valentines in strips. 2. Address the Valentines with a to & from. 3. Attach a chapstick to each Valentine. You can attach with hole punch and string or piece of clear tape. *Print on cardstock and/or mount on cardstock for a sturdy Valentine.

Use this log to help parents keep track of reading at home. The book it certificate is an incentive. You can decide how many minutes you want the families to read and can use this from month to month.

Here is a guide to help your students prep for kindergarten. You can give this to the classroom families or you can work through it the first week of school. This cute decodable reader is Valentine's themed. Beginning readers can practice their reading skills with this decodable reader. First, I have students write their name on the first and last page. Next, students can identify one sight word. For this reader, I have students highlight the word "on," but students can identify the word "day," "I," "can," or "give," if your class has already mastered the word "on." Then, students can turn to the final page of the story and finish the sentence "On Va

Students work on writing their name and identifying the first sound in their name. They also find a word with the same beginning sound. Then they can draw a picture. This is a good activity for beginning writers. I used this activity at our writing center.

This is a cover page and letter for a home writing journal. I start sending these home in October to encourage writing at home. I attach blank pages to the journal.
