About the store

Experience

For nearly a decade, I’ve had an incredible journey teaching middle school students a variety of subjects. My teaching portfolio includes History and Social Studies, Earth Science and Geography, Biology, Christian Education, ESL, ELA, Art, and Physical Education. I’ve also had the pleasure of teaching upper primary school (4th grade) and homeschooling, which has given me a well-rounded perspective on different educational settings.

Teaching style

My teaching style is all about transforming the classroom into a lively, engaging, and interactive space. I believe that learning should be an adventure, filled with discovery and excitement. To achieve this, I incorporate hands-on activities that allow students to experience concepts firsthand. Engaging visuals and multimedia resources are a staple in my lessons, as they help to illustrate complex ideas and maintain student interest. I draw inspiration from Montessori techniques, which emphasize independence and hands-on learning, and integrate these methods into my teaching. I also love using games to make learning fun and memorable, particularly for review sessions. These interactive review sessions turn content revision into a dynamic and enjoyable experience, reinforcing knowledge through play. Collaborative strategies are another cornerstone of my teaching, fostering a sense of community and teamwork in the classroom. Additionally, I incorporate brain-based learning approaches to enhance cognitive development and retention, making my lessons more effective and enjoyable. By encouraging students to work together, I help them develop critical thinking, communication, and social skills that are essential for their future success.

Awards & shining teacher moments

One of my most rewarding experiences was working with a group of homeschool students to prepare them for their final assessments. Through tailored lesson plans, engaging teaching methods, and a lot of one-on-one support, I was able to help each student build confidence and master the material. The journey was challenging, but seeing their hard work pay off was incredibly fulfilling. When assessment day came, every single student succeeded, surpassing their own expectations. Their success was a testament to the power of personalized education and the effectiveness of a supportive, student-centered approach. Helping students with special needs has always been a priority for me. One particular instance involved a student with dyslexia who struggled with reading comprehension. By recording test questions and playing them back, I enabled him to understand and succeed in his assessments. Seeing his confidence soar and knowing that I made a difference in his learning journey was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my career. I have also had the honor of assisting a new student who had a history of being bullied at her previous school. Through focused classroom management techniques and positive reinforcement, I facilitated her integration into the class. She flourished both socially and academically, and later shared that it was the first time she felt truly welcomed at school. These moments of impact are what drive my passion for teaching and remind me of the profound difference educators can make in students' lives.

My own education history

My academic journey has been both extensive and enriching. I earned my Master of Arts and Bachelor of Education. At University I developed a solid foundation in educational theory and practice. The rigorous curriculum and diverse learning opportunities equipped me with the knowledge and skills necessary to create effective and engaging learning experiences for my students. During my studies, I was fortunate to participate in a study abroad program in Sweden. This experience broadened my educational perspectives and introduced me to innovative teaching methodologies and cultural insights that I continue to integrate into my classroom.

Additional biographical information

As a resource developer, it’s incredibly important to me to create materials that are both teacher-friendly and student-centered. I understand how busy teachers are and how time-consuming lesson planning can be, which is why my resources are designed to be no-prep and ready to go. They complement each other seamlessly, providing a cohesive and comprehensive approach to learning. My goal is to offer high-quality, engaging resources that make teaching easier and more effective, allowing teachers to focus on what they do best – inspiring and educating their students. Outside the classroom, I am a bundle of energy and enthusiasm. My passion for teaching is matched by my love for staying active and exploring new ideas. I have always been very sporty, and this aspect of my personality fuels my teaching, helping me set a positive, energetic example for my students. Whether it’s through experimenting with new teaching methods, engaging in creative pursuits, or participating in outdoor activities, I am constantly seeking ways to enrich my life and the lives of my students. I am passionate about inspiring young minds and helping them achieve their fullest potential, both academically and personally. Each day in the classroom is a new opportunity to make a difference, and I embrace this challenge with enthusiasm and dedication. My goal is to create a nurturing and stimulating environment where students feel valued, motivated, and empowered to succeed.
