I recently graduated from Huntington University with a degree in Elementary Education and a dual licensure in teaching english learners in 2025! I am now getting ready to begin my first year teaching third grade!
During my sophomore year, I completed a practicum in a Kindergarten classroom, where I observed and engaged with students for one hour each week. This experience helped me understand the foundational stages of learning and develop a foundational awareness of classroom dynamics.
In my first junior block practicum, I spent five weeks working with 3rd graders, teaching three language arts lessons. This opportunity allowed me to try my hand at lesson planning and delivery skills while learning how to engage students.
For my second junior practicum, I worked with 1st graders, where I had the opportunity to teach three lessons in Math, Science, and Language Arts. This experience gave me a deeper understanding of how to adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of young learners.
I recently completed student teaching with 5th graders for 14 weeks. This experience has allowed me to put all of my learning into practice as I supported students in their academic growth while continuing to develop my teaching skills.
