Teaching from Experience

I have nearly a decade of teaching experience across elementary and middle school grade levels. I have a passion for teaching and usually tackle summer school, so I teach all year round most years and I tutor as well.

Benjamin Franklin said it best when he said, “tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” This philosophy of education guides and directs every set of lessons I teach. I also believe in a scaffolding approach to teaching and feel that students should be guided and gradually given responsibility for their own learning.

For the last five years, I have been chosen as a teacher leader in my school district with responsibilities such as creating and providing professional development to fellow teachers.

I graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education and later received a Master’s in Educational Administration from William Woods University.

Teaching runs in my family! I am married to the best educator I have ever met and am confident he will continue to do great things. My sister, aunt, and two sister-in-laws also teach at various levels of education.
